Tips & Tricks
How do I add volume and bounce to my flat limp hair?
This is one of the most common questions I get asked daily in my salons. It is essential that you can recreate your salon hair at home. Below you will find a few simple steps to add volume, thickness and bounce to your hair.
1.

Wash and towel dry hair.
|
2.
|
Apply a thickening Lotion or Mousse to hair, this will help add grip
whilst blowdrying and also hold your style. I recommend Label.M Thickening Cream
|
3.
|
Section and clip your hair for blow drying, (imagining a birds eye view of the head, you should section into three sections, from ear to ear and part your hair where you desire). I recommend a simple butterfly clip.

Starting at the nape of the neck, section off an inch of your hair and clip the rest up. Spray a root volumiser on to the roots of your hair. This will help create height and volume. I personally like using Matrix Vavavoom, Take Me Higher . Using a round barrel brush, and the high setting of your hair dryer, concentrating on the roots blow dry upwards, you can actually hold your hair up with the brush and blow dry underneath. This will dry the root volumiser and hold the height of the hair.

Then move on to blow drying the ends, either flicking it in or out. (If you have two barrel brushes or Velcro rollers, curl the hair around your brush or roller and leave-in whilst blowdrying the next section, this way your hair will cool down around the brush and hold its shape better) Alternatively on your last stroke, you can use the cool air switch on your dryer and cool down the hair.

Continue sectioning inch by inch and repeating the steps, moving up the nape of the neck and then moving on to the sides. Remembering to spray root volumiser and blowdrying upwards. Don't forget to finish with a medium hold hair spray, my fave is Keune Brush Out Laquer. This should create unbelievable bounce, volume and hold. Sometimes, a section of the hair can collapse if it wasn't dried properly. This can be rectified by teasing using a fine toothed comb finishing with hair spray to hold it. |
Quick Fix:
If you are in a hurry and need volume to go, dry hair as usual spray the root volume on to your roots, tilt head forwards and blast your hair upside down concentrating on your roots… tada! Instant volume.
Happy drying!
